Our Story
Design Museum Prague was established out of a feeling that for a long time, Prague lacked an institution that would bravely bring the best of the international scene directly to our homes. We wanted to fill this void and create a vibrant bridge between world metropolises and the historical heart of Prague. But behind these grand plans are primarily us – people who live and breathe design. You can see us in the photos from the renovation, with dust on our faces and paint under our nails, putting together the space on Kampa to be worthy of names like Ingo Maurer, Le Corbusier, or Wes Anderson.
We are not a rigid gallery with strict supervision; we are a small but strong cultural institution that wants to reveal design to the world in the simplest and most sincere way. Our vision is a place where people queue for exhibitions because they know that they will find inspiration without barriers and unnecessary complexities. We are a team that believes top-tier world design belongs right in the heart of our city, and we do everything to make Design Museum Prague your favorite stop, where you will feel welcomed by people who love their work.
We want your visit to be as smooth as the lines of a modern armchair. Here are the answers to the questions we are most frequently asked.

Where to find us?
We are located at U Lužického semináře 11 in Malá Strana. It's just a few steps from Charles Bridge, in one of the most beautiful parts of Prague.
How to get to us:
- By tram: Malostranské náměstí or Malostranská stops are just a few minutes' walk from us.
- By metro: Line A, Malostranská station.
Opening hours
The museum and shop doors are open for you every day from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM. If you wish to leisurely explore the entire exhibition, we recommend arriving no later than 6:30 PM – we do not admit new visitors to the museum within half an hour of closing time, to ensure you have enough time to enjoy the experience.
Admission
Tickets are currently only sold on-site at our ticket office. However, capacity is sufficient, so you don't have to worry about not getting a spot.
- Standard: 250 CZK
- Reduced: 150 CZK (students, seniors, and children)
- Family: 500 CZK (up to 4 people – 2 adults, 2 children)
Availability
Our building is historical and charming, but unfortunately, it also has its limitations. We are not entirely wheelchair accessible – there is a prominent step right at the entrance, so please be careful when entering.
Course of the visit
When you enter, you will first find yourself in our shop. Here you can buy a ticket and anything from our curated design offer. Afterwards, we will take you to the museum itself.
Coffee and relaxation
You won't find a classic café here, but we have outdoor seating for you in a historic courtyard where you can relax, study, or work. The good news? Coffee is included in your ticket price, so you can enjoy it as part of your visit.
