Design Museum Prague is right by Charles Bridge, on the Malá Strana (Lesser Town) side. Step into a world of sculptural chairs, striking lighting and original Czechoslovak design objects — a change of pace from the city's skyline and cobbled streets.

What you will see: brutalism beyond the buildings
Our current exhibition, UGLY: Czechoslovak Brutalism 1960–1989 — HNUSNÝ in Czech — runs from 12 September 2026 to 15 January 2027, in collaboration with Nanovo.
Brutalism is often remembered through monumental buildings. Here, the story unfolds at the scale of everyday life: furniture, lighting, glass, metal and interior objects. Look closely at the materials and proportions to discover how a chair or lamp could belong to the same architectural idea as an entire building.
Highlights include lighting and armchairs in the Hotel Praha section, alongside salvaged fragments from Transgas and the U Zlatého hada café. These original objects offer a close encounter with interiors that helped define their era — and, in some cases, with places Prague has lost.

How to find us from Charles Bridge
We are just a few steps from the bridge on its Malá Strana side, at U Lužického semináře 86/11. If you are crossing from Old Town, head to the Lesser Town end of the bridge and find us on U Lužického semináře. Enter through the design shop, where you can buy your museum ticket.
Coming by public transport? Use Malostranská metro station on line A, or the Malostranská and Malostranské náměstí tram stops, then continue on foot.
Make it part of a walk around Kampa and Malá Strana
Pair your bridge crossing with an hour of design, then continue exploring Kampa and the lanes of Malá Strana. The museum makes an easy cultural stop within a walk around this part of Prague, without setting aside a whole day.
For a relaxed visit, arrive by around 18:00 if you want a full hour before closing. Last admission is at 18:30.
A design shop and a coffee to finish
Our curated design shop extends the visit with furniture, lighting, glass, ceramics, books and smaller objects to discover. Browse for something to use at home or a thoughtful gift, and take time for your included coffee. There is outdoor seating in the historic courtyard.

Tickets are sold on site. Standard admission is CZK 250; reduced admission is CZK 150 for students, seniors and children. A CZK 500 family ticket covers up to two adults and two children.
Access: the historic building is not fully wheelchair accessible and has a prominent step at the entrance. Please contact us before visiting if you need access advice.
