UGLY launched: a look back at the exhibition opening at Design Museum Prague

Design Museum Prague has launched the exhibition "UGLY: Czechoslovak Brutalism 1960–1989." The opening brought guests among furniture, lighting fixtures, and interior objects that showcase the distinctive character of Czechoslovak design from the second half of the 20th century.

The evening was dedicated to mingling, conversations, and exploring the new exhibition. The striking shapes of armchairs, the work with glass and metal, and bold lighting solutions offered a close-up view of brutalism — through objects that were part of everyday life.

The exhibition was created in collaboration with Nanovo and recalls a time when architecture, furniture, and interior furnishings were designed as a single whole. It also presents salvaged fragments of defunct Prague locations, including Transgas and the U Zlatého hada café.

The exhibition is open until January 15, 2027, every day from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, at U Lužického semináře 86/11, Prague 1 – Malá Strana. Admission: basic 250 CZK, reduced 150 CZK, family 500 CZK for a maximum of two adults and two children. Coffee is included with every ticket.
